HISARONU: Driving from Fethiye up the mountain, you will come upon the towns of Ovacik and Hisaronu. The scenery is breathtaking and you are welcomed by a refreshing breeze, and a slightly cooler climate than in Fethiye town. Ovacik is mainly hotels, apartments, villas and restaurants and a small selection of shops. Then you come into the lively town of Hisaronu, with lots of exciting shops, bars and restaurants catering for all tastes and ages. Why not try out a traditional turkish bath or massage? Monday is traditionally market day in Hisaronu for lots of leather and textile bargains and a wonderful array of fresh fruit and vegatables, Turkish teas and of course Turkish Delight! Hop on a dolmus ride, they run all the time, for a fifteen minute ride into Fethiye, a ten minute ride to Oludeniz or a 20 minute ride down to Kaya Koy.
FETHIYE: Once a small market town and fishing village, Fethiye has become a thriving harbour town and tourist attraction. Fethiye dates back to the 6th century bc and is steeped in history. Whilst walking through the town, traces of the ancient Lycian settlements can be seen including the amazing rock tombs on the face of the east of the city.
